“I always felt the big liquor stores offered an overwhelming amount of options,” says Mark Westmoreland. “I wandered aisle after aisle just to find a decent red that would go with dinner.” And with that in mind, Westmoreland opened Cask and Craft in LoHi last month. The store’s mission is to combine the selection of a wine and beer shop with the atmosphere of a wine bar, he says, and to that end it features a constantly rotating, curated menu of wine and beer options. Beer is sold by the bottle to encourage experimentation across the shop’s “easy drinking,” “adventurous” and “expert” categories — and there are free tastings from 3 to 7 p.m. Fridays and 2 to 7 p.m. Saturdays.
We sent photographer Danielle Lirette to Cask and Craft to capture her own taste of Cask and Craft; drink up the atmosphere in the photos that follow.
