The Best of Denver 2014 is now out, inspiring heated conversations about everything from Best Hamburger to Best Vegetarian Restaurant. Our Best Chef for 2014 is Darrel Truett of Barolo Grill: Even though “Barolo Grill has always been synonymous with owner and front-of-house face Blair Taylor, even he would admit that the talent behind the sublime food at this elegantly rustic sanctum of northern Italian cuisine is sous-turned-superhero chef Darrel Truett.” The Best New Restaurant? Lower48 Kitchen. Out of hundreds of openings this year, Lower48 Kitchen stood out, and “turned a forgotten corner of the Ballpark neighborhood into a dining destination.”

Also this week, with Fooducopia taking home the Best Brunch award, we counted down the twelve best brunch spots in Denver. And we checked in with Matt Selby, executive chef of Central, on his new post there and the new menu he’s introduced.

This was also Colorado Craft Beer Week, and we poured out plenty of beer news. Among the tasty items: TRVE Brewery is Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, 500 16th Street
Machete, 1730 Wynkoop Street
To The Wind Bistro, 3333 East Colfax Avenue

CLOSING THIS WEEK:
Catacombs, 2115 13th Street, Boulder
Old Chicago, 1415 Market Street
