This week in Cafe Society, Gretchen Kurtz reviewed the Bar-On family’s latest restaurant venture: Braun Taphaus & Grille, a sports bar with an Austrian accent; meanwhile, Lori Midson reported on the new names — three names, actually — that the family will use for the rest of its empire, since the sale of the Udi’s gluten-free product division came with the stipulation that all the Udi’s restaurants change their names too.

For the latest Chef and Tell, Midson talked to Snarf’s chef/owner Jimmy Seidel, who discussed his love of good bread and plans to expand the Snarfs’s empire.
Also this week, we counted down the ten best restaurants in the Ballpark neighborhood, our Best of Denver 2014 winner for Best New Restaurant Neighborhood — which also happens to include Lower48 Kitchen, this year’s Best New Restaurant. And we devoted an extended slide show to Chefs Up Front, which brought the best chefs in the area to the Colorado Convention Center.
