There’s not much that satisfies on a sweltering summer day like a 7-Eleven Slurpee.
And on Sunday, July 11 (a.k.a. 7/11), from 8 a.m. (not 7 a.m., unfortunately) to 11 p.m. you can score a free, 7.11-ounce mini-Slurpee at participating stores throughout the metro area.
The date also marks the convenience store’s 83rd birthday. That’s right, the Dallas-based chain, parent as well to the Big Gulp and its outsized sibling, the Super Big Gulp, was born in 1927, before television and most of our grandparents.
Fortunately, it shouldn’t be as difficult to track down a Slurpee as it was to score an almost-free Jimmy John’s sub recently. All Capitol Hill area locations reached, for example, say they’re on board with the promotion. Still: Call ahead if you want to avoid Slurpee-less disappointment.
