What’s with the wimpy tastebuds in Colorado? When a server assures me that something is hot, I’m often disappointed to find it is neither hot nor tasty. So when a waiter tried to explain to me that the Bangkok Fizz, made with Thai chile-infused vodka was really, really hot, I pooh-poohed him and his East Coast tastebuds. But then I took a large swig, and felt the heat go down my throat and up my sinuses at the same time. He was correct: This is a damn hot drink. But it’s delicious, and just the thing to warm you up on a cold winter day.
Can you guess where I’m drinking?
Special bonus: Anyone who gives the first correct answer to a Guess Where post is entered into a pool — and every week, we select one lucky winner who’ll receive an EatDenver dining deck, worth up to $520 in discounts at independent restaurants. Because of the holidays, we didn’t give a prize this Monday — we’ll catch up with two awards on January 6.
Will you step up to support Westword this year?
At Westword, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $23,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $50,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.
