First, the bad news: As Jason Sheehan just reported, a call to Frank Bonanno’s Bones revealed that, you guessed it, it’s closed due to inclement weather.
Not only is Bones black until at least tomorrow, but Bonanno’s three other restaurants — Luca D’Italia, Mizuna and Osteria Marco — are also dark. And that’s just the short list of joints that have sent their troops home (or didn’t open at all today), thanks to Mother Nature’s wrath. Others that have succumbed to the white stuff? Fuel Cafe, Root Down, Solera, Zengo, Vita, Tamayo, Indulge French Bistro, Elway’s in Cherry Creek, 8 Rivers, Encore and Restaurant 1515.
Now, the good news: Most restaurants are open, including a few that are turning out dollar deals for as long as the snow keeps falling. Mezcal, at 3230 East Colfax Avenue, is offering happy hour specials well into the night, including $1 tacos, and downtown at McCormick’s Fish House, located at 1659 Wazee Street, Irish coffees are also just a buck in the bar. We’ll drink to that.
