At Aurora’s Jai Ho, Bollywood blares on the televisions, the long menu features some of the least helpful descriptions we’ve ever seen and the servers provide equally confusing assistance. But despite the quirks, the food — mostly Southern Indian — is stellar, from the delicious dosas to the curries to the chili gobi, one of our 100 favorite dishes. It’s one of our very favorite Indian restaurants in the Denver area, and, delightfully, a second outpost just opened in Boulder.
Jai Ho “Bolder” — and yes, that’s how it’s spelled on the signage — is located in a strip mall near 28th Street and Pearl that once held Maharaja Indian Cuisine; it opened three weeks ago, dishing out the same menu that owners Sathya and Sujatha Narayan feature at the Denver counterpart.
But that will change. “We’re adding more dishes in Boulder,” an employee explains. “More spinach, chickpeas and lamb.”
The restaurant also offers a $10 Indian lunch buffet in addition to the vast dinner menu, as well as more Bollywood on television and a full bar.
