Independent Journalism in Denver Needs You
We need to raise $25,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
Okay, what the heck is in the water in Arizona? (Not that there is much water in Arizona.)
First a Scottsdale restaurant offers an Easter meal with an entire rabbit menu, then it does a Christmas dinner featuring reindeer. And now a Tucson joint is serving up an extreme taco. Yummy: Simmered Simba to go.
Boca Tacos y Tequila is the brainchild of Bryan Mazon, who sells a special taco on Wednesday. The extreme special next month? African lion tacos.
Although this choice particularly galls the politically correct locations, he’s also done specials with python, alligator, elk, kangaroo, rattlesnake, oysters, turtle, duck and frog legs. Why are lions so much worse?
Mazon is taking prepaid orders for the lion loins; each taco will cost $8.75. No cowardly lion-eaters need apply.
