Years ago, when the Rolling Stones were in town to play a Denver concert, they ate at Little Shanghai, a South Broadway stalwart serving authentic — and Americanized — Chinese food, and during the past 39 years, just about everyone else ate there, too, including us, always saving belly room for the city’s best fortune cookies, their crunchy exteriors dipped in white chocolate.

But in late September, the future of Little Shanghai folded when owners Ching and Kim Lei — always welcoming and ready with a genuine smile — shut the doors, leaving behind an empty space and years full of memories.
“Thanks for all your support over the years,” says the restaurant’s Facebook page, which is dotted with condolences from teary regulars.
