Lucy, the tony restaurant that takes up the second floor of Comedy Works South, 5345 Landmark Place, is shuttered for what the website calls “maintenance.”
Well, sort of. I just got off the phone with Susan Collyar, marketing manager for Comedy Works, who told me that the restaurant is being “revamped,” and since the Fourth of July is a holiday and all, now’s as good a time as any to make some changes. “We decided to start this weekend because we’re already closed on Sundays and don’t really compete with those Fourth of July picnic places, anyway,” she said.
Which, from what Collyar said, is sort of, kind of, the reason why Lucy is getting a makeover, because people, you know, actually like picnic food. “Lucy’s food was the most amazing food ever,” she gushed, “but with the economy the way it is and restaurants like Alto and ESPN Zone closing, we needed to overhaul the menu and make it more accessible.”
Which is not to say that baked beans, barbecue and brownies will show up in neon print on some sort of Red Robin-y menu when Lucy comes back to life, but since the “menu concept is still being conceived,” according to Collyar, who knows?
