Two Lazy Dogs

We just released our list of the Top 50 Bars in Denver right now, but the scene is always shifting and another interesting spot is coming soon.
Last year, the only downtown Cheba Hut shuttered suddenly on Champa Street after nearly fifteen years. The space has been vacant ever since, but in early 2026, Two Lazy Dogs will move in. Business partners Chase Phillips, Steven Sen and Michael Alvarado are behind the project, which they describe as “a dog-themed neighborhood dive bar and grill.”
“Denver deserves a good dive bar downtown, a place that feels comfortable, fun and genuinely welcoming to everyone,” says Phillips. “We’re building a spot where people can unwind, laugh, meet neighbors and feel connected. Whether you’re grabbing a drink after work, catching up with friends over a game of pool, or looking for a quality bite to eat, Two Lazy Dogs is here to be your go-to hangout.”
The team promises a “value-driven food + drink menu designed for downtown workers and neighborhood residents to have an affordable hangout.” Expect burgers, fried food and smoked wings, plus dog-themed cocktails like the Ahsoka(tini) and Ruby(loma), named after the pair of real lazy dogs that inspired the concept. There will also be mocktails, as well as beer and shot combos.

Two Lazy Dogs
On Thursdays, guests will be able to get one free beer — if they drink it out of a branded dog bowl. Other canine-inspired elements include a community corkboard that will showcase guest dogs and highlight dogs available for foster and adoption through local partners. Recurring dog adoption events are planned, too, and a percentage of net profits will be donated to local animal shelters and rescue organizations.
The space will include free entertainment such as pool, darts, arcade games, foosball and televisions for game-day viewing.
“We believe this opening marks a meaningful addition to the Central Business District and contributes to the momentum of revitalizing downtown by bringing in new, locally owned businesses,” the team concludes.
Two Lazy Dogs plans to open in late February/early March 2026 at 1531 Champa Street. It will be open until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday and until midnight Sunday through Wednesday. For more information, visit twolazydogs.com or follow the bar on Instagram @twolazydogsdnvr.
