The space left vacant by Nohana Sushi at 2301 East Colfax Avenue has been under construction for almost six months. Tomorrow, though, the dust will finally clear, and Japanese restaurant Okinawa will open for business.

Michael Zheng, who owns Okinawa along with pan-Asian restaurant Spicy Basil and Japanese joint Go Fish, both at 1 Broadway, describes his concept as contemporary Japanese, a combination of sushi and other traditional dishes utlilizing French cooking techniques. He’ll have plenty of raw fish, but he’ll also serve up creative rolls and teriyaki dishes.

When Okinawa opens this weekend, it will serve dinner, but lunch hours will also be added quickly.

The doors open tomorrow at 5 p.m.
