Cheap rent, hip locals and an urban feel are three of the main ingredients that have turned River North into one of Denver’s hottest neighborhoods for new breweries. Three of them — River North Brewery, Black Shirt Brewing and Our Mutual Friend Malt & Brew (which is technically in Five Points) — opened in 2012. At least two more very high-profile breweries — Crooked Stave, which currently has a location in Sunnyside, and Epic Brewing, which is based in Utah — have big plans for new spots in 2013.
On January 11, 2013, Westword nightlife photographer Brandon Marshall spent the night out visiting the three existing breweries. Here’s a taste of what he saw; to see the rest, check out the “A night at the River North breweries” slide show.
