Curt Sims and his wife, Pam, opened Cantina last Friday at 1109 Lincoln Street, which most recently was home to the Hive. Curt Sims owns the building, which long ago was the Denver Buffalo Company; the last time the couple ran a restaurant there, it was Cielo. But that’s not the only proof they know how to do Mexican: The couple also owns the Lime chain.
Westword‘s Danielle Lirette stopped by today to check out the new space, and brought back these photos as a reminder of warm weather and margaritas just around the corner — especially in the Golden Triangle, which is fast becoming a hub of Mexican cuisine.

Cantina promises to provide “an inexpensive, price-friendly, sports-oriented, active bar and restaurant” for the neighborhood, with a menu that focuses on Tex-Mex cuisine, including Texas-inspired, Texas-sized Super Tacos.” Cantina will also offer build-your-own tacos, burritos and burgers. And this weekend, Cantina will be hosting a Cinco de Mayo fiesta featuring food and drink specials, free drink promotions, music, and more. The festivities run Saturday, May 4 through Sunday, May 5.
