Sunnyside Burger Bar isn’t generally open for breakfast, but last week there was an a.m. takeover of Troy Guard’s kitchen and dining room. Chef Ian Kleinman, high-tech wiz behind the Inventing Room food lab and catering company, brought his fanciful doughnuts — and a few creative coffee drinks — to the eatery perched on the northern edge of Lower Highland.
Flavors included PB & J, tiramisu, banana cream pie and a creation called Traci’s Sweet and Savor featuring compressed strawberries, balsamic glaze and candied rosemary walnuts, which was the winning entry from Kleinman’s online contest. Photographer Ken Hamblin was there to capture the sweet action.

Will you step up to support Westword this year?
At Westword, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $21,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $50,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.
