The Miceli family opened their third Mici Handcrafted Italian restaurant yesterday, this one in Stapleton, in the former home of An’s Lemongrass — and right across from a Montessori school…which initially presented a problem. “We’re a family-owned Italian restaurant,” says Kim Miceli-Vela, one of the family members behind Mici Handcrafted Italian. “We’re extremely family-friendly. But you can’t have an Italian restaurant without wine.”
Thanks to a rule change by the Denver Department of Excise and Licenses, though, the owners were able to apply for that license before opening the third Mici yesterday — with wine.
