Local entrepreneur Heidi Ganahl, founder and CEO of Camp Bow Wow (the Broomfield-based pet-care chain), is running for an at-large seat on the University of Colorado Board of Regents. This is Ganahl’s first bid for public office, but she has been recognized for her business acumen in Fortune magazine’s 2014 list of Most Promising Women Entrepreneurs and also founded Moms Fight Back, a nonprofit organization dedicated to childhood safety issues.
So why are you reading about her in our Food & Drink section? Because Ganahl, who made her candidacy official this week, is holding a rally at Westminster’s GQue Championship Barbecue, a new Kansas City-style smokehouse that her husband, Jason Ganahl, just opened last fall.
The event, which starts at 2 p.m. today, will feature a meet-and-greet, an address by Heidi Ganahl, and a Q & A session. And if you go, don’t forget to grab some barbecue. This is a family familiar with public recognition: Jason’s GQue competitive barbecue team has earned high honors at several Colorado and national events.
