In one of the more interesting real-estate deals of the last few years, the Breckenridge-Wynkoop group swapped property — and cash — with the brothers behind Sushi Den and Izakaya Den, taking on the Izakaya space at 1518 South Pearl in exchange for giving up the Pearl Street Grill at 1477 South Pearl. That address reopened two months ago as a stunning new Izakaya, and now construction is under way to transform the former Izakaya into Session Kitchen, with a new concept designed to appeal to the neighborhood around South Pearl. “With amazing taps of elevated craft cocktails, beer and exceptional wines, plus delicious, shareable, globally-inspired food, this is a restaurant that’s designed to satisfy after a day well-lived,” Breckenridge-Wynkoop’s Lisa Berzins Ruskaup told Lori Midson on a tour of the spot last week.

But what kind of crowd will it satisfy? The neighborhood isn’t all that diverse, says mtnmc1:
“The ‘hood’s eclectic demographic: snowboarders, skateboarders, music junkies, sojourners, beer scholars, foodniks, culture vultures and artists.” We are talking about South Pearl, right? Stroller army and the grandparents visiting seems more accurate.
