Spangalang Brewery opens today in the former Department of Motor Vehicles office on Welton Street, in the heart of Five Points, an area that was the African-American cultural center of the West decades ago, but started a slow slide in the ’60s. Now development is coming back — but is that development robbing Five Points of its historic identity? Some people think so, and the neighborhood has become one of this city’s fronts in the battle over gentrification. Says WillieStortz:
