“No more root beer for me, bartender. I’m driving.”
Happy Hour: It’s no longer just for alcohol.
That’s the idea behind the Red Trolley ice cream shop’s root beer float happy hour. The phrase alone inspires giddy excitement; saying it aloud will certainly leave a childish grin on your face. The operation lives up to expectations: From 3 to 6 p.m. every day, Red Trolley, at 2639 West 32nd Avenue, serves up $2 – that’s right, $2 – root beer floats. These aren’t the cruddy concoctions that come out of fast food joints. They feature Wynkoop Brewing Co.’s Tiger Root Beer – straight from the shop’s in-counter tap – and homemade vanilla ice cream or any of Red Trolley’s other flavors of ice cream and gelato, all made in-house.
Check it out for yourself. This is one happy hour you’ll certainly be happy about. – Joel Warner
