Last week, we mentioned that Strange Grounds on South Broadway had closed and will soon become a sandwich shop called Samiches. But it turns out that Strange Grounds is not gone for good. A source with the coffeehouse indicates that the owner has found a new location at 1077 South Pearl and plans to reopen at the end of this month or in early February.
That’s good news for fans of the cafe’s homemade chai — and for fans of experimental music. Last year we recognized Strange Grounds for having the Best Open-Mike Night in the city, so hopefully we’ll be able to look forward to more Gordon Gano sightings in the near future.
