Which area has better dining options? Tennyson or Larimer Square? Vote below in our Street 16 first-round match-up.

Do you vote Larimer Square?

Thirty years ago, Larimer Square was a tourist trap where locals never dreamed of dining — but today this block is often the go-to choice for Denverites planning a night on the town. The Victorian storefronts that line the street are filled with some of Denver’s hottest restaurants, most of them chef-owned and -driven: Rioja, Bistro Vendôme and Euclid Hall, the trio of eateries run by Jennifer Jaskinski and Beth Gruitch; TAG and TAG|Raw Bar, Troy Guard’s entrees; and Richard Sandoval’s Tamayo. Even the chains on this block — Capital Grille, Ted’s Montana Grill and Ocean Prime — are choice.

The Berkeley neighborhood is one of the town’s hottest residential markets these days, and the short commercial strip along Tennyson Street is one of its biggest draws. The tidy bungalows and Victorian homes in this northwest Denver ‘hood are just a brief walk (and you’ll want to walk, because parking is tough to come by) from an incredible array of restaurants, everything from Axios Estiatorio to Big Hoss Bar-B-Q to Parisi Italian Market & Deli to DJ’s Berkeley Cafe to the Cozy Cottage to Empanada Grill.
