As I reported here at the start of July, The Hornet (76 Broadway), one of Broadway’s most convivial watering holes, had announced it was closing for seven days to allow time for a few remodeling projects. I swung by on Friday, July 10, the projected reopening date, to assess the progress — and lo and behold, along with a nice new paint job (inside and out), new bathrooms, a new menu and new kitchen equipment, the Hornet also boasted a sizable crowd taking advantage of two-for-one Colorado microbrews and two-for-one Jameson and Absolut drinks, which is what the staff had promised its patrons once the hive got back to buzzing.

Although the promised second patio isn’t in place yet, the restaurant’s building contractor, Greg Sturtz, says it’ll be built “sometime very soon on the north side of the building.”
