East West Partners took over the beleaguered Landmark project in Greenwood Village late last year, and it’s starting to make moves. Espresso American Coffee, a Central American company that has 165 stores internationally, will open its first U.S. locations in the Denver area this fall — one of them in the Landmark. This is the first new retail tenant at the Landmark since East West Partners took over. “When we began talking to the Landmark residents about what retail they hoped to see in the community, a coffee shop was at the very top of the list,” says Amy Cara, managing partner at East West Partners overseeing the development.

The current lineup of Landmark restaurants features national chains such as Ted’s Montana Grill, as well as local chains and independents, including Hapa Sushi, Ali Baba Grill, Jing, Lila B Lounge andLucy Restaurant (both part of Comedy Works South), Pizza Republica, Slatttery’s Irish Pub and Yanni’s Greek Tavern, which moved here from its longtime home on South Monaco.

So far, only three spots have left Landmark: Lime (there is a new location downtown, and the Sixth Avenue restaurant is about to unveil its remodel), Grand Cru (possibly the oddest concept in recent Denver dining history) and Get Sauced, which recently closed. Espressole Caffe, part of the Kitchen Table Cooking School, moved to another spot in the area in 2012. “Espresso Americano will be a great gathering place and a perfect addition to the existing retail community in the Village,” says Cara.
