The Palm, which got its start in New York City almost a century ago, is celebrating its twentieth birthday in Denver with a one-day only Prime Time deal at the Palm Restaurant. From 5 to 7 p.m. tonight, July 20, the restaurant is serving specially priced Bar Bites with a beverage for $20 in the newly expanded bar. Those bites include cornmeal-fried oysters, a classic cheeseburger or calamari fritti; wash your choice down with a draft beer, well drink or glass of Los Vascos Chardonnay or Cabernet while you soak up the remodeled surroundings.

The Palm wasn’t the first restaurant in this space in the Westin, just off Skyline Park and the 16th Street Mall. This was also the first downtown location for Hooters, which then tried LoDo before focusing on the ‘burbs. But before that, it was home to Watson’s, then a soda fountain/liquor store concept.

Clearly, the Palm has lasted much longer in this location. Here’s to biting off another twenty years.
