Eight years after opening the Retro Room at 2034 Larimer Street, owner Dominic Roybal has opened The Refinery two blocks away at 1932 Blake Street, in a space that the Sports Column was using as an overflow room. While the Retro Room has an old-school feel, The Refinery has more of an industrial feel; Roybal says the new spot has a little classier environment. Although the Refinery is surrounded by sports-centric bars like Swanky’s and the Sports Column and has multiple TVs, Roybal says this bar won’t push sports. The drinks are classier, too: The Refinery offers a number of vodka, whiskey and tequila infusions, as well as juicer cocktails made with fresh juice and alcohol.
