Every year, competitors and ‘cue lovers from around the country flock to Frisco for the annual Colorado BBQ Challenge. It’s a Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned event, which basically means that the barbecue is going to be authentic (read: really freakin’ tasty), and winners will therefore have even more reason to brag.

Tonight, the Radiators are playing a free concert to kick off festivities that will run through Saturday, June 19. Starting tomorrow, you can sample the barbecue and start placing bets on who will take home the grand prizes in the overall, brisket, pork, ribs, chicken, anything goes (past submissions have included alligator and tofu ‘cue), sides, dessert, sauce and salsa categories. (We’re not entirely sure what salsa is doing on that list — but we like salsa, too, so bring it on!)
