Tonight from 6 to 9 p.m., Cook Street School of Fine Cooking, at 1937 Market Street, will kick off its tenth anniversary celebration with a series of ten-minute cooking demonstrations (audience participation and sampling absolutely encouraged), followed by a cook-off between four finalists, all of whom submitted original recipes using ten ingredients as part of the culinary school’s Recipe 10 contest.
The winner of the cook-off, which will be judged by one of your humble bearers of restaurant blogs (me!), Cook Street instructor Thomas Allen and two members of the esteemed food-loving public, will walk away with $1,000 in cash and a pretty cool food-centric weekend in the Big Apple that includes, among other things, three days of non-stop eating, a behind-the-scenes tour of the Food Network, two nights of…whatever in the Carlton on Madison Avenue hotel and a $200 gift certificate to Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill.
The cooking demos are free but the bar isn’t, so bring cash. If you want more info, visit www.cookstreet.com.
