Lachlan Mackinnon Patterson, the exec chef at Frasca Food & Wine, the restaurant at 1738 Pearl Street that’s the best in Boulder (and possibly Colorado), was rather unmercifully booted from Bravo TV’s Top Chef Masters back in mid-July after he failed to seduce the judges with his deep-fried, speck-wrapped pineapple. It actually sounds like something I’d love, but since I wasn’t a judge — unlike Gael Green, who tossed out eye-rolling zingers, like “I don’t like lawn cuttings in my desserts” — I had no say in the matter.
But tonight, you might. That’s because Mackinnon Patterson is hosting a Top Chef Masters dinner, at which he’ll recreate the dishes that led to his loss on the show. A victory would have netted him $100,000 — not for himself, but for charity:the Children’s Hospital, where his daughter, Lydia, was treated for a hernia.
The four-course menu will also include pork “klobasa” and tomato-prosciutto brodo, beef short ribs and a sweet strawberry tart. For more information or to make reservations, call 303-442-6966.
