It’s one of the great culinary paradoxes: While most household-name chefs are men, in most households, women are the ones wearing the aprons. But the annual fundraiser for Work Options for Women — a nonprofit enterprise that teaches impoverished women the skills they need to become gainfully employed in the food-service industry — shows us that there are some fantastic female chefs here in Denver. WomenCook! Dining for a Difference starts at 6 p.m. tonight at Temple Emanuel, 51 Grape Street; included in the lineup are such names as Elise Wiggins (Panzano), Jennifer Jasinski (Rioja), Sheila Lucero (Jax Fish House) and many more. Tickets, $125, are selling fast; call 720-944-1166 or visit www.workoptions.org to get yours.
