Vicente Domingo opened Viejo Domingo, an Argentine spot, quietly last year in the West 38th Avenue space that had housed Playa de Oro. And now Viejo Domingo has left left quietly, too. The Viejo Domingo sign is down, the phone rings without going to voicemail, and a handwritten scrawl in the window says, simply, “Sorry, we are closed.”

But despite this evidence, Viego Domingo may not be gone for good. According to staffers at Mr. Car Wash, Viejo Domingo’s next-door neighbor, the restaurant is just on vacation.

“Don’t worry, they’re reopening in May,” one of the employees told us.

We’ll believe it when we see it — and post the news as soon as we get it.
