I’ve been checking out backyard chicken coops and downtown veggie gardens for months as part of my summer-long Urbavore’s Dilemma web series, and this week’s entry sent me to an unobtrusive Park Hill home in search of the origins of a pack of bacon I recently enjoyed — some of the best I’ve ever eaten.
I bought the bacon from the Green Fooder, a Denver operation specializing in local meats and dairy products, and the Park Hill house was that of Mitchell Alexander, the founder and one and only employee of the Green Fooder. To find out what I learned from Alexander about the benefits — and challenges — of going local for your animal protein, check out this week’s Urbavore’s Dilemma entry.
