For decades, Gregg Pike has served breakfast, lunch and dinner to diners, drinkers and pool players at his joint on East Colfax in Aurora: Wolf’s Restaurant & Lounge.

But now he’s calling it quits. Pike lost his lease on the building, and yesterday was Wolf’s last day. When the restaurant closed, it also closed the book on a long chapter in Denver’s dining scene.

“The business has been open for fifty years,” Pike explains. “I owned it for thirty.”

For now, Pike has no plans to open another restaurant. So he’s liquidating his assets, too: the kitchen equipment, pool tables and flatscreen televisions will be auctioned off tomorrow starting at 10 a.m. Schur Success will be allowing bidders a chance to view what’s available an hour before the sale starts.
