We’ve been eying the green-tiled space outfitted with ten or so self-serve yogurt machines that flanks the walking bridge on Platte Street for a while, wondering when the place would start serving frozen treats. Yesterday, we noticed a new development: a sign. And we also got word that Yogurt Time will open tomorrow — and give away the goods all day on Saturday.
Kevin Lam is the owner of this new spot, and he’s mixing up a melange of flavors, including classics like chocolate and strawberry and more inventive combinations, including ginger-lemon. Patrons will serve themselves at the machines, Lam says, then pass through the toppings bar and pay by weight. He was gracious enough to let us sample a swirl of chocolate and peanut butter, and we’re happy to report that it was sweet, creamy and delicious.
This Saturday, he’ll try to draw people to Yogurt Time — which is next to Colt & Gray and practically underneath the bridge — by offering free samples. Since it’s supposed to be a nice weekend, we predict he’ll have plenty of takers.
