Independent Journalism in Denver Needs You
We need to raise $25,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
Zanitas Mexican is coming soon to Boulder. Maybe.
We’ll believe this when we see a Facebook page — at the very least — declaring its future existence. At the moment, the only evidence that Zanitas may one day exist is a multi-colored sign posted to the window of the space at the corner of College Avenue and 14th Street.
The space is significantly larger than most restaurants on The Hill, and the name, Z-a-n-i-t-a-s has a promising ring — and echoes of the legendary Juanita’s, the Mexican joint on the Pearl Street Mall that closed a year ago.
Still, we don’t put much stock in the word “soon.” After all, back in September a “coming soon” sign was also posted on the 13th Street space that’s supposed to hold a Red Mango. But five months later, the frozen yogurt shop still isn’t open.
