The Bradford Washburn American Mountaineering Museum

The Bradford Washburn American Mountaineering Museum opened its doors in 2008 and is one of the only facilities in the world dedicated to the culture of mountaineering. The museum honors the achievements of mountaineers from America and around the globe, with exhibits that focus on climate, science and scenery.

The Madden Museum of Art

The Madden Museum of Art may be located in a Denver Tech Center office building, but its exhibits can be over-the-top eclectic. The collection includes works by the likes of Thomas Hart Benton, Robert Rauschenberg, Thomas Moran and Jackson Pollack; there are also special, themed exhibits.

Idaho Springs Heritage Museum and Visitor Center

Next time you drive through the mountains and see an old mine that evokes romantic images of Colorado’s gold-rush days, stop by the Idaho Springs Heritage Museum and Visitor’s Center. The Clear Creek Watershed Exhibit that takes up an entire back room is a stunning documentation of the old mining days.

The CELL

The Counter Terrorism Education Learning Lab – the CELL — is located across the plaza from the Denver Art Museum. The nonprofit center, which is funded by local real-estate mogul Larry Mizel, focuses on the state of terrorism in modern times.

Golden Oldy Cyclery

A cycling research library and museum of cycling history, with a mock 1889 bicycle repair shop and exhibits of Victorian-era bikes and bicycling accessories and clothing, located in Golden along the Lariat Loop Scenic and Historic Byway.
