Siete Salsas

This no-frills spot on Sheridan Boulevard does indeed offers seven kinds of salsa, ranging in color from pale emerald to bright orange, and in levels of intensity from mild-as-can-be to blow-your-head-off hot. The kitchen also turns out respectable tacos and tortas as well as a standout birria.

Taste of Denmark

The European-style bakery in Lakewood turns out a truly astonishing range of kringles, cream puffs, strudels, croissants, eclairs, sweet breads, pies, cakes, tarts, muffins, cookies and, of course, Danishes. Enjoy them to go or on the bakery’s sunny patio – including in winter, when the staff sets up outdoor heaters to keep customers cozy.

Teller’s Taproom & Kitchen

It’s no secret that Lakewood (and, while we’re at it, Wheat Ridge) is a vast culinary labyrinth of chains and uninspiring independent restaurants that force suburbanites to empty their change in downtown meters. Hits the Spot Diner

Denver’s diner scene has dwindled in recent years, but this eatery, which claims to make “the fastest egg in the West,” has been serving up old-school charm and high-quality comfort food for over a decade. Simms Steakhouse

Perched high on a hill overlooking downtown Denver, Simms Steak House — which occupies the former home of Simms Landing — wows diners with a stunning silhouette of the skyline. As a result, it’s a perfect destination for date night, Sunday brunch or dinner with out-of-towners. But the big, classic menu — highlighting Colorado-caught fish […]

Taco House

It’s not surprising that the sign over the South Federal Taco House, which is almost bigger than the building below it, is more of an icon in this town than the restaurant itself.

Hacienda Colorado

Hacienda Colorado is a homegrown chain, one that’s coined the term “Mountain Mex” for its food. So while you’ll find traditional Mexican dishes on the menu, they’ve all been given a local twist – and you may find that your tacos and burritos have been stuffed with local ingredients, from marinated meats to fresh produce. […]
