There was something funny going on in the Super Bowl commercials this year, and it wasn't those stupid Bud Light ads. Nope, this one wasn't supposed to be funny at all. It was supposed to inspire you to join the Air Force Reserves, but instead it had us thinking about Lego's.

By now, you've heard about it, right? Jack White thinks the Air Force Reserves might have resorted to stealing during the recession, namely copping one his tunes without permission. Although we're not entirely certain what the Air Force Reserve has to do with extreme sports, the clip described enlistment in the Reserves as "the high-octane thrills of action sports at its best."

He and Meg issued a statement (see screenshot above) on their website pointing out, "We believe our song was re-recorded and used without permission of The White Stripes, our publishers, label or management."

Easy, now, patriots. The White Stripes don't hate America or anything. In fact, "The White Stripes support this nation's military," the band clarifies, "at home and during times when our country needs and depends on them," before also noting that the act also doesn't support the current war effort.

Assuming you saw it, what do you think? We'd love to embed it or direct you to a link if you didn't, but the ad has mysteriously disappeared from the web. At any rate, while were trying to track down the the offending Super Bowl ad, we happened to come across another USAF Reserve PSA, and this one, ironically, appears to nick "Won't Get Fooled Again" by the Who. Hmm... Wonder if that song -- or the interpolation of it, in this case -- was properly licensed.
