Hey, what do you know? Performing at the Showcase can actually be beneficial to your career. Well, so to speak. In a roundabout way, playing at the Showcase helped the men of Boldtype land an opening slot on the upcoming Guttermouth tour. Well, it sealed the deal, anyway. We'll let drummer Manny Eater explain.
"They suggested us as well as a few other bands," says Manny of a local promoter who was asked by Guttermouth personally to recommend potential opening acts. "In the end, it came down to us and a few national acts. We sent them the video of us playing the Westword Music Showcase last year at Bannock St. Garage. The tour manager said it was ultimately up to Mark. About a week later we got the call asking us formally to go on tour. Were obviously ecstatic at the opportunity."
As they should be. Nearly twenty dates on the road with Guttermouth, that's some great pretty exposure. Catch Boldtype before it hits the road on Friday, January 28, at Rockaway Tavern for its tour kick off show. And when the band returns in March, it will be hosting a CD release show for its brand new CD.
