Just got word that Born in the Flood will be previewing material for a new album on Friday, December 12, at the Bluebird. That show was already looking like a can't-miss proposition (Born in the Flood, Ian Cooke, Iuengliss, Bad Weather California are only about half the highlights of the lineup), but add in the chance to preview what should be one of the best local records of 2009, and this looks like it could be the place to be Friday. Need more encouragment? The group also says that this is the last show it will play in Denver for a while. If there's any justice in this world, Born in the Flood will be the next Denver band to break in a big way, so don't miss out on your last chance to catch our little secret before it slips out to the rest of the world and starts selling out stadiums... -- Cory Casciato

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
