Update 11/14/12: In addition to the scheduled in-store performance at Twist & Shout on 12/2 (page down for details), Ian Cooke has announced a very special CD release show at the Curious Theatre on Friday, December 16. Seating is limited to 175 people, and tickets are available directly through Cooke's bandcamp page for $8 or $15 (includes copy of Fortitude).

Original item 11/10/11: Back in September, we told about Ian Cooke's forthcoming album, Fortitude, and mentioned that it would be released sometime in November. Well, here we are in November, and while you can still pre-order the record, those who purchase the platter at Twist & Shout beginning on Friday, November 25, will get a wristband to attend Cooke's special in-store performance the following Friday, December 2. Added incentive, the fine folks at the Greater Than Collective, who's now working with Cooke, is bringing the beer. In the meantime, catch Cooke this Tuesday at the Larimer Lounge with Crooked Fingers.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
