Feeling a little tribal as the cold weather sets in? SOMA’s got just the thing this Wednesday, October 30. Tribal Rites presents ThunderBall, the downbeat production duo you may know from their tracks on Kelly Slater’s Pro Surfer game. The D.C. natives and former punk musicians use slick futuristic ingredients — such as high-tech video mingled with old-skool groove and sweet ’70s soul — as their tools of cool. Wednesday’s program begins with a set from underground hip-hop heavyweights Idealistics; the thunderous ones will then appear with a special touring octet whose dub-ragga beats will make your pulse feel like a lightning storm.
