If you’ve spent any time at all in the Denver dance scene, you’ve almost certainly caught a set or three from Ivy, a multiple Best of Denver award-winning DJ. From his start on a pair of jury-rigged secondhand turntables in 1996 until today, Ivy has developed his skills and style to the point that he’s one of Denver’s finest DJs in almost any style, from blunted downtempo to high-energy house and techno. “Everything except for trance,” he says. That versatility has put him on stage with superstars including Hybrid and Trentemøller, and he can hold his own on any stage with his keen turntable skills, impeccable taste and intuitive track selection. His latest gig is playing Emerald Forest 3, on Saturday, January 17, at the Avalon Ballroom, 6185 Arapahoe Avenue in Boulder. It’s a fundraiser for KGNU, and he’s excited for the opportunity. “Doing this party for KGNU is the least I could do to help them,” Ivy says. “I love KGNU, and it’s nice to help them out when I can.”
