The Solution, DJ Low Key and Sounds Supreme's hip-hop centric weekly, one of the most unique parties in the city is about to undergo another change. The Solution is no stranger to the concept of change, as evidence by its ability to continue to thrive despite multiple venue changes (from Milk to Funky Buddha to Bar Standard to, most recently, 3014). Now, we've learned, the night is about to welcome a new host.

Last weekend, Sounds Supreme announced that he's leaving The Solution. Big shoes to fill there. All good. His replacement, DJ Lazy Eyez, has impressive credentials of his own, including a six-year stint at Basementalism and his role as vice president of Hip-Hop Congress Denver. Lazy makes his debut next Friday, December 17.

Tonight, The Solution celebrates the ladies of Denver by offering free pampering stations (including makeup applications, manicures, and waxing), cupcakes from The Shoppe, and a raffle drawing for various products and services from sponsors including Family Affair, Vito Pini Salon, and Pure Barre. If that wasn't enough, North Carolina Red Bull Thre3 Style champ DJ Forge will be in the building as well.

The Solution is located at 3014 (3014 E. Colfax, Denver) and is free of charge for those who are 21 and over.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
