If you listen to house music in Denver, then you've heard by now of Brett Starr's House Revival, the regular Funky Buddha nights that showcase three different DJs trading off at the decks, with no sets, just a continuous blend of dance music. There are a couple of exciting aspects this time around: House Revival is upping the dosage by holding down the Funky Buddha decks every second Saturday, and lowercasesounds.com founder DJ Tres will be heading out from Omaha to throw down with the Treehouse Collective's Khalib and Supernova superstar himself, Brett Starr. Tres has been producing and spinning tunes for more than twenty years and launched lowercasesounds.com in 2004; the online radio station/digital label has seen successful house releases as well as regular across-the-spectrum sets featuring deep house, ambient, downtempo and jazz mixed on the station platform by more than 25 DJs from around the world. The sound Tres has cultivated is upbeat and approachable, with small details like a well-placed vocal or an unusual beat that pull his sets together. No doubt he'll be well-matched by Khalib and Starr when he spins on Saturday, October 8.
