Rap Addict underwhelms at pretty much every level: It’s not well written, rapped, mixed or produced. Do-Rong has a deep voice and an obvious penchant for picking decent piano-heavy beats, but based on this album, that’s about all he has going for him. “Undercover Hater” is a hilarious admonishment for detractors to “not be haters all their lives,” but the lukewarm lyrics and sour production choice leave little else to actually love. A possible saving grace on the album is the track “Lyrical Minds,” but it’s mostly about the dramatic, twinkling beat-building that happens in the first twenty seconds. If Do-Rong is indeed a Rap Addict, as advertised, perhaps he should take a trip to rehab. Indefinitely.
