Opening act The Palms set a relaxed tone for the evening, with a set that included a falsetto cover of Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You." But Dope Lemon amped up the energy as soon as the band stepped on the stage. While the band is known for relaxed, chill vibes across its studio albums, the songs are injected with lengthy, heavy jams when played live. The audience roared as soon as the first notes of "Marinade" began to trickle out, and didn't stop dancing through the following song, "Hey You," which featured shredding guitar solos and knee-breaking basslines.

The Australian group, founded by frontman Angus Stone, clearly has a passionate following in Denver, with the audience singing along to everything from hits like "Uptown Folks" to tracks off the band's new album, Golden Wolf, just released earlier this month. The crowd, which comprised folks of all ages, seemed to be as high as the vibes were — or maybe the music is just that intoxicating. The band has received mixed reviews for live shows from Redditors, which just goes to show how you can't trust the internet. Because after this Fillmore show, we can't imagine missing another one from Dope Lemon.
