A fixture in Minneapolis’s tightly knit dance-music community, Zak Khutoretsky, who goes by DVS1, has promoted and deejayed at underground events around the Midwest since the mid-’90s. Often forgoing opportunities to tour abroad to promote music he believes in at home, Khutoretsky only recently started to garner national and international attention as a world-class DJ and producer, signing to Ben Klock’s label, Klockworks, in 2009. His early production work is unpretentious, emotional techno that, like his DJ sets, brings out the very best in the genre. Khutoretsky made his Denver debut alongside Klock last year in an outstanding double bill that had our local scene buzzing and anxious for his return. Fans of cutting-edge dance music should not miss this performance.
