London’s Eddie Halliwell is one of house music’s fastest rising stars. Even though he’s only been spinning a relatively short period of time, Halliwell’s technical ability has enabled him to carve out a unique place for himself among the U.K.’s elite. He first started deejaying at the age of fifteen; too young to get into the clubs to watch his heroes spin, he made do by listening to them on the radio and enrolling in a music-technology course. Now, Pioneer is working with the British jock to develop the next generation of DJ technology. While the majority of his peers simply ride long mixes, Halliwell (due at the Church this Thursday, June 1) uses the mixer as a tool to make every set his own. — Timothy Pittz
