Flier of the Week: Peña at the Lion's Lair

Yeah, I know we already had a flier of the week, on Tuesday (and a kick-ass flier it was, too). I also realize the show this flier is advertising is already over, as of last night. But I absolutely could not resist giving this flier some props. It's awesome. I have no idea how this illustration relates to the awesome instrumental prowess of the one and only Peña, but I love it regardless. It simultaneously reminds me of the old Operation game, illustrations from a theoretical kids' book on health from the era of my childhood, and some of the currently hot pop-art styles I have seen in meanderings. I really dig the colors in particular.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
